An OzBargainers Dilemma Missed Deals Need New Phone

I'm in a pickle and I'm upset at myself for being too over analytical.

Originally I was holding out for the unicorn 20% off ebay code right on eofy. Then got busy at work and missed out.

Now I'm into the new FY and my trusty old ozbargained Lumia 930 which is 3 year old is starting to show its age.

I'm after an iPhone7+ 128gb and having missed the ebay deals as well as the Aldi year long mobile plan what's an obaarginer to do.

Plan with Optus? (Missed the 25% code :( )
Buy outright without a decent coupon?
Tough it with a semi working phone?

A bit of a pity party post but what's a true ozbargainer to do?

    Maybe buy a cheap android like a Xiaomi, then when the Christmas sales come you could go over to the dark aahh buy the lovely iPhone 7+ =D

    iphone 8 maybe in a couple months, hopefully some deals come through for you if you can hold off a bit longer.

        I'd still be on WP if there was more current hardware. Nokia had a winning design and camera and featureset.. the OS direction unfortunately didn't pan out.. but it ran better than both Android and iOS in everyway for the main tasks.

        Such a shame MS's billions tanked Nokia..

          They didn't support it, so software was eclipsed years ago by Android and iOS. RAM management remained sub-par as competitors moved to 64 bit, overly aggressive photo post-processing, instability, etc. And that's ignoring the app situation. Claiming the 930 is better than 'any' iPhone in 2017 is something crazy fanboys would say.

          i'd wager you never used it cause it had better memory management, better camera and post and was far more stable than ios and android for its time and even through till today. The phone hardware is still up there for a 3yr old flagship.
          I'm not going to say it's better but i've had a quite a few phones with work over 2-3 jobs in the past 3yrs and the lumia930 was the best of the bunch.
          iOS was far more unstable needing restarts and android was even worse, my lumia's prob never failed on me.
          they did support it, win10 came out and it works well.
          apps didn't support it cause ms couldn't work it out. I had the apps I needed tho snapchat was nothing missed.
          everything i wanted it had.

          I have three WPs, two of which (640 and 8X) bought via deals here. Better memory management? Did you not experience 'resuming' screens? Apps didn't tombstone immediately after switching? Maps stayed active after screen off? I've personally experienced those issues and just skimming over MS feedback forums and the WP sub, I'm far from the only one.

          Better camera? Yes, at one point. But the iPhone, Galaxy and even Pixel have now eclipsed it. Not helped by 'adding finishing touches' and slow as molasses processing. More stable than iOS? In what universe?

    The one I keep considering is the Optus plan with the upgrade anytime thingy after 12mths..
    not a fan of the whole contract side of things but seeing it's often tricky to get discount on these phones it may be an option.. very un-ozbargainy of me..

          Yeah I have really bad problems spending money, I never spend, I'm extremely frugal, thought I never permit anyone to buy/pay for anything for me.

    Or just buy a good spec phone that will do the job and leave behind the fantasy of always chasing 'the best' which you cannot achieve. It's an intellectual test you're failing currently.
