Custom-Branded Shoeboxes and Questions about Domestic Shipping

Hi folks,

I was wondering if anybody knew where I can bulk-purchase (at least 500/month) custom branded shoe boxes. I will make the design and just need somebody who can sell the shoe box which are sturdy and cost-effective. :) If it helps, the shoe box dimensions should be around, 13cm long x 17 cm wide and 5 cm high. Australian business preferred but overseas is okay too.

Secondly, and apologies if this is a recurring topic, I was just curious on how I can minimize domestic shipping costs. I see many e-commerce businesses are able to ship small items like mouse with the box for ~$2. Do they have contracts with courier services like Toll which give such low prices?

    Are you sure they're shipping from Australia? Postage from China/Hong Kong is crazy cheap.

      My bad. It was JB Hi-Fi and they were able to ship me the mouse for $4.95 which is still cheap compared to the AusPost which charges >$8 for small shipments. They used Toll to deliver the mouse.

        Many businesses actually pay more for shipping than they pass on to the customer.

        If you offer "free shipping", customers assume it's included in prices (which makes sense). If you offer different levels of shipping, customers feel like they have a choice and can feel "less ripped off".

        Also, different courier companies offer different rates for different areas/delivery windows. So you could be paying more or less depending on the order. But this might be for bigger merchants who can negotiate due to volume.

          Thank you for this. I suppose with volume, you can negotiate prices with a logistics company. Although, I am guessing there is a trade-off between price and service (as it always is). Fastway couriers is cheaper than most others but they have abysmal reviews so I don't plan to engage with them.
