I am looking to get a phone for a family member. I was going to recommend the Xiaomi 3 Kate edition but I see the official Xiaomi Aliexpress shop doesn't have it in stock anymore and every other store is more than $200 with probably a unsafe rom.
So what is recommended now that is around $200(prefer under)?
Or the Oppo range.
Out of interest, which shop on AliExpress is the shop you think is the official Xiaomi store? My understanding is they don't have an official shop on AliExpress.

I got 1 of these, no battery issues but it does seem to be hit and miss on that. My folks got 1 too first 1 had issues. 2nd 1 was perfect (warranty claim)
If you are "brave" u can flash off the vodafone stuff (Android N Official build). And to unlock it, just google Vodafone unlock, it was free for us at the time. I dunno about now.
So you'd recommend these over say the Xiaomi note 4(2 gb ram version)?
Chinese phones are quite good for the price you pay. you can get high spec phone for $200 no probs.
Yeah that is why i wanted to get them the Xiaomi 3 Kate, it pretty well spec and around $200 but it is hard to find for a goood price and the official aliexpress store doesn't have it so I was wondering is the note 4(and its million different models) comparable?
You're not going to find Kate for cheap anymore. It's out of production.
The note 4 is better. It's slower in cpu and gpu performance, but it's literally better in every other way. Edit: except for the lack of band 28
But which one do I get? There seems to be so many versions of the note 4, even some with 2 gb of ram.
Which one should I be getting?

@Macgyver: yes, it is. The store I normally get it from is 20 bucks extra. Make sure you flash the rom again though, just incase it's vendor rom.
I owned a Doogee as well…Y100 Plus i think it was called….91 euros, 2 GB of ram, 16gb and quadcore processor.
Might not be the prettiest phone,not the best grip, not the best screen, not the best for playing….but u can do all of that at high performance,,,for 91ueros!!!!lol

Cubot Dinosaur 3G Ram 16G Rom good battery $170ish
Homtom HT17 Pro 2G/16G + Fingerprint $106
THL T9 Pro 2G/16G + Fingerprint $112
Can't go wrong with the Homtom. Also (an important thing to research first) you can get moulded cases for it unlike the THL T9 Pro.
