Mofo Secret Deal Shiraz 2016 - $138/Doz ($11.50/Bottle) RRP $360 @ Vinomofo

31

This looks to be a great deal from a 5 star producer. I got for these deals as they have a free returns policy, don't like it just return for free and get a full refund. Whats to lose?

FYI, since VinoMofo work by trying to sell you hidden label deals every day of the week, if you're going to post on OzB you should really be able to tell people what the wine is so they can decide if it's really a good deal.

OP probably just caught onto the VM ref thing….like couple of years late.

No deal unless you can identify the wine.

Haselgrove ‘Bella Vigna’ Shiraz (RRP $30.00), Vinomofo exaggerated the score.
    Sam Kim note:
    Haselgrove
    Bella Vigna Shiraz 2016
    Rating: 94
Richly fruited and wonderfully expressed, the gorgeous bouquet shows black/blueberry, spiced cherry, cocoa and toasted hazelnut characters. The palate is concentrated and flavoursome, and displays awesome fruit power, beautifully framed by velvety texture and supple tannins. An impressive offering with superb structure and length. At its best: 2018 to 2028. AU$30.00. www.haselgrove.com.au. June 2017.

    • Made for mofo wine?

    • +ed you. are you the same guru on qff?
do you think this wine worth the price and 94pts?
I found Sam Kim and Tony Keys etc are pushing around many 90-95 pts wines recently, not sure about their credibility in general. Not that I really believe in the great JH anymore…

Not a guru, just been drinking wine a looong time, but post on AFF wine forum a bit and have my own site/forum.

VM regularly feed their forthcoming offerings to Sam Kim and Tony Keys and Patrick Eckel. They are all "reputable", but "second tier" reviewers, although Sam Kim charges for reviews. Whether or not they are overly generous is up to individual tastes I guess.

Just ignore the "don't pay" price and often the wines are actually worth the lower price.

As the OP has said, you can always send it back. The last one I sent back was an import with 99 points from a "reputable" o/s reviewer, simply not anywhere near that good and not pleasant drinking.

    • i dont think it is, I've yet to have seen a rating vinomofo lied about and the bella has more alcohol than mentioned

I have seen many VM "mistakes".
Compare the wording from the VM Sam Kim note…
“Richly fruited and wonderfully expressed, the gorgeous bouquet shows black/blueberry, spiced cherry, cocoa and toasted hazelnut characters. The palate is concentrated and flavoursome, and displays awesome fruit power, beautifully framed by velvety texture and supple tannins. An impressive offering with superb structure and length. At its best: 2018 to 2028.”

The one I originally posted was from the Wine Orbit site of Sam Kim (subscriber access).

        • Fair enough, guess I haven't been paying that much attention to their claims…

For a decent quaffer id be more inclined to go for the Pertaringa Undercover on deals.vom.au. with the current 15% off code you can have that for $9.85 a bottle

    • I just couldn't find this on deals.com.au, are you sure it was Pertaringa Undercover? it's a sub $20 wine though elsewhere

      • Yean it was the mystery shiraz 94points. Seems it ended now

  • who is the best wine guru out there? Sam kim , Tony keys , James Halliday, Houn Hooke??
