Question about selling FF points

HI
I am thinking about selling some of my Qantas FF points.
Just a quick question, is the only way to sell through the family members transfer?

I did see some post about trading points and sending as a gift and there are fees to be paid. But when I google I cant find anything about this on Qantas website.

Is it safe to transfer to a 'family' member currently?

its been done to death here
its not legal and your account can be suspended for lying
however if its between family members it should be OK

  • The risks are more for the buyers I think.

  • If you want to do it legally, than buying gift cards could be an option.
Worse ratio sure, but it's completely legal

  • To clarify, its not illegal, its just against the terms and conditions of the program so this just means the worst they can do is close your account, however while they may confiscate some points, if you seemed ignorant of the t&cs they are unlikely to do much more than cancel the transaction.

Morally I think it is reasonable that we have the right to do what we will with these digital assets (just as you can with any other currency). The programs certainly are by design stacked against you through difficulty redeeming/devaluations/point expiry and somewhat evil UX design when navigating the redemption section of their sites.

  • Ill PM you about some safe methods to sell your points

    • Hey tuvs, I know this thread is super old, but if you have a copy of those point selling tips, I'd really appreciate if you could send me a copy!

  • Cousins can use your points and the airlines don't check. In fact it would be close to impossible to confirm a cousin relation I think.
Thought this info might be helpful.
