Oil Filter Brand (Ryco vs Sakura)

Hi Ozbargainer's .

I'm looking at Oil filter's and deciding if i should be buying the Ryco or Sakura oil filters. There is a $4.70 price difference between them.
Is there any problems buying the Sakura oil filters? Because I haven't heard of them before but people say that they don't have a problems with them.

Thanks.

    • Not a very scientific assessment, but enough that I'd be happy to buy either of them.

  • either or
    same same

  • With just a difference if $4.70 I would go with Ryco.

  • I have used both of these and have not seen a pattern of failure over last 35 years to give concern one over the other.

I do not recall one customer ever stipulating a particular brand of non genuine filter, barring the OEM items on some vehicles while still in statutory warranty.

Some times the price difference is purely model application and quantity of manufacture, availability and marketing.
Read the warranty conditions re a possible equipment/application failure and your rights if you are really concerned.

  • Not to throw a spanner into works but what does the manufacture of the car use?

    Holden is AC Delco

    Ford is Motorcraft

I recently updated and found eBay accounts of dealership service centres giving the best prices for bulk purchase buys.

But to answer your question I've used Ryco oil filters in all my cars, never had an issue - but mainly because I service my cars 5000 to 7500 km intervals.

BUT - I wouldn't wake up in a cold hard sweat at night if I used the Sakura ones in that video example.
