Deciding on AmEx Card. Which One?

Hi guys,

I will need to buy few stuff in next 2 months worth approx $10k. So thinking to get new credit card to get Max points. I don't fly frequently.

Can any expert suggest best Amex or other card?

  Have you had an Amex (not bank-issued) in the past? If not, then you can get a lot of bonus points just for signing up. I would personally recommend the Amex Explorer card which currently has a 100,000 sign up bonus, which is equal to 75,000 FF points with AMEX's many partners.

        Is amex explorer better than Amex Velocity platinum card?
        Amex explorer - 100,000 points which converts to ~75000 velocity points
        Velocity plantinum - 100,000 velocity points

        @pyramid: yeah I'd say that the bonus on the velocity platinum is better, but with the explorer card you can convert your points to lots of different frequent flyer programs, which can save you 1000s of points

  I'm a big fan of the platinum edge - lower annual fee than the explorer, can earn up to 3 points per dollar on spends at major supermarkets, and the points are worth one FF point each instead of the 3/4 of a point worth of the explorer card.
