Optus International Roaming

Does anybody know if Optus offer international roaming on pre paid?

My iphone is locked to Optus and cant have it unlocked because i've updated to the new version.

Im travelling overseas and want to be able to use my iphone to make/eceive calls, sms and also use the internet.

I dont want to sign up for a plan. I just want to be able to use their service overseas but as a pre paid customer.

Is this possible? - Or what other alternatives have I got?

Edit: I'm currently with Vodafone as a post-paid customer if that helps.

    Accoring to their website they do. I guess you would have to make sure that the country you are going to has the coverage you want.

    Another option is to sign up to a company in the country you are going to - to get a local sim card. I did this in the States but the purpose was to get a local number to make local calls and not to call home. Again you need to look at costs. Could be a forum on whirlpool with more info.

    Contact Optus Customer Service about this one, its not worth getting burnt and being stuck o/seas based off an ozbargainers advice.

    Thanks guys.

    I;ve figured that roaming charges are way too high. I'm just going to buy a sim card over there and bring a phone that is not locked to any network.

    I think this is a much better option

      V good idea. I used to work at Optus and bills from $500-$5000 were common for a 2 week holiday.

      A sim bought in the overseas country will save you a sad suprise when you come home.

    I have only ever used Optus Roaming overseas for text messages only, voice calls are too expensive. Before you leave divert all voice calls to voicemail and leave a message asking people to text you.

    You can still get another sim overseas but put in your optus sim occasionally to check for any texts.
