Help Required to Find a Good PC Program to View CCTV Cameras Remotely

Hello,

Need some help finding a good program for my computer so that I can remotely view my CCTV cameras. Currently I'm only able to view it on my smartphone via a few apps such as nViewerLite, iDVR-PRO Viewer, EH Series DVR Viewer. I'd like to view it on my PC instead of just on my smartphone via the apps. Hence trying to find an equvivalent of the smartphone apps for my PC.

I've looked around online but could not really find anything so thought of reaching out to the OzBargain community here.

Thank you in advance…

Tinycam Pro for Android. Blueiris is good aswell but requires more setup, hardware (CPU) and subscription.

    • TinyCam in a Virtual Machine running Android?

Blue Iris (non-free) is awesome, especially with their camera support.

  • you will probably find that the camera(s) stream to RTSP (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_Time_Streaming_Protocol) format - so, you should be able to use VLC (media / open network stream… - enter rtsp://<ipaddress-of-camera>) to watch the stream.
Unfortunately VLC on Android barfs on this :(

VLC on PC is awful as well.

    • Thanks harrywwc. Yes they do stream to RSTP protocol also and I've got DDNS setup on my my WAN IP (and the necessary ports NAT'D to the ip of the dvr on my router and ports opened on the firewall). Will give VLC on my pc a go as well.

Pretty happy with the idvr pro cms software also!

  • ZoneMinder. There are some live disks around with it preinstalled or run on a headless linux install is best….
