  • Is Berry the only color for 2TB?

    • not everyone can choose what colour they want to be

      • +3

        Michael Jackson could.

Hard drives are at most a 10 dollar difference, so I wouldn't say it smashes them.

That's a pretty amazing price though, nice find! Tempted to grab one, but pretty sure they aren't good for 24/7 usage.

    • +2

so you want NAS style enterprise drives (24x7 usage) with USB stick style smashing prices? good luck!

      • I know, I'll stick to my WD Reds xD

        • tbh hard drive prices have not gone south for quite a few years since the aussie dollar tanked compared to the US

        • @ozdesi: I know, it 'shucks'.

      • USB sticks are way more expensive per GB than NAS HDD. No you wouldn't want them at USB prices.

        • And that's exactly why they get more discounted price per GB!

  • Its not the WD Metal 2TB , missed them on JB . Mobileciti used to beat JB prices by 30% easy a year or two ago, either JB has become more competitive or mobileciti has lost tooth in sharp pricing. No body is able to beat JB madness and factory scoop prices these days !

Thanks for pointing that out. Somtimes my fingers type faster than my brain thinks lol. OP edited :)

      • Haha 100%, still a +ve for me for the S8

  • any metal edition ones?

"The My Passport Ultra drive is portable storage in a design that brilliantly pairs metal and matte finishes to create a sophisticated style. "

  • anyone else planning to cop the s8?

    after a s8 plus =(

  • kind of a noob with hard drives and xboxes will these hard drives work as extra storage for a xbox one s

    • +1

Yes mate will work no problems via one of the available usb ports on the Xbox. if you want to use it internally you will have to use jrunner which is a program for rghing Xbox 360s YouTube is your friend here.

      • Can the above apply to Xbox one s?

      • thanks, mate i will probably just use it externally

Just know that if you buy from them you will not receive any support.

You have to hound them to get anything out of them. Waited 3-4 long weeks for a refund on a faulty G4 Plus that was 3 months old. They refer you straight to the manufacturer and accept no responsibility or offer any help unless you persist with them.

G4 Plus had screen burn and they told me to not use it for long periods. Then they said to contact Motorola. I believe this is against the ACL. They should swap out my phone after diagnosis then deal with Motorola.

I'm saying this because it has been a common experience in dealing with them and others that bought from them (Nexus 6P in December 2015).

I'd rather support a company that cares about their customers. Never again.

A grey importer, qd_au were fantastic with a minor issue I had in my last order. Minor issue and they offered to replace it for free and have a discount.
Mobileciti should really focus on customer retention or they'll be out of business.

    • I agree they don't know ACL. I got roasted for sharing my experience with the other forum members

      • +1

I dunno. If I'm dumping hundreds on a product, I'd like to know that the retailer would assist willingly instead of having to threaten negative posts like this and ACCC action.

        • -1

@mobileciti: you must have missed the part where you refused him his legal rights and referred him off to the manufacturer of the product

know that the retailer would assist willingly instead of having to threaten negative posts like this and ACCC action.

communication is key. read up on ACL and follow that process when communicating with your customers and they wont need to threaten negative posts or ACCC.

          communication always helps

        • @mobileciti:

The reason you don't remember is because you palmed me off to Roadhound. You said it was out of warranty. A $999 phone should last more than 14 months. You consistently breach ACL.

          Never buying from you again.

      • +1

I saw your comments. It's weird that fellow consumers dislike these comments. Negative publicity should benefit them if the retailer lifts their standards.

bought S8 dual sim for 760AUD from qd_au a month ago, very happy with it

    • Was that Australian stock?

      • They're a grey importer, so no.

That's not to say it won't be compatible in Australia. Usually if there are issues you send back to Sydney and they worry about international post.

        • Not comparable then. This is Australian stock. When my S7 email had issues I got a replacement by Samsung over the counter. It can takes over a month when sending it overseas. Also an import was $680 on eBay last week anyway.

        • @OnlinePred:

Qd_au will help you better than Mobileciti should you experience issues

        • @rorymeister: you mean qd_au will help you better than Samsung Australia?

        • @OnlinePred:

Mobileciti - but yes. It would be more convenient dealing with Samsung Australia than having to send via qd_au

        • @rorymeister: 2 year warranty with Samsung Australia for $160 seems a no brainer.

  • Can anyone advise if the WD element compatible with Windows 10 ? A quick search seems like lots of problems with Window 10 installed computers don't recognize it.

    • It's an external hard drive, it should work without any problems.

Source: Bought one from the JB deal TA linked.

      • I have external drives that work fine with Windows 7 but not XP on the same box. Checked compatibility on the packaging and sure enough no mention of XP. External doesn't mean compatible.

        • That's due to poor backwards compatibility, completely the opposite, although very unusual for portable hard drives as far as I'm aware. Maybe it was a driver issue. Did you try other external hard drives, or possibly an enclosure?

Anyway, as I stated, I bought one myself. It works without any problems for me. Of course, that doesn't mean it will work for everyone, but the average Joe should have no issues.

        • @BradleyDS2:

These are the newer Western Digital 4TB elements desktop drives. Appears to be a known issue. The drive would show up in device manager but not disk manager. i.e. device recognized but wouldn't mount so I couldn't even reformat. Solved it by dual booting with Win 7. I don't have much hardware or software that works with XP but not 7 and if I need to I can boot to XP anyway.

  • Am I missing something here? So what's the big deal about this "WD My Passport Ultra Portable Hard Drive HDD 2TB" vs the Toshiba 2TB at Officeworks for $99. I know it's $10 cheaper with this promo code…. and so??

I'm not HDD expert so is $10 the big deal or is this WD that much better than the Toshiba?

    • Yeah nothing to see here, Mobileciti advert

    • +1

Think about 10 $1 or 5 $2 food items you can buy at hungry jacks. You are missing something for sure…

    • Do you know the difference between Australian stock and an import?

  • 1TB WD Passport drives on Co~op for under $60. They are the superseded model but they do the same thing. Comes in various colours too.
