Best "Holding" Phone Plan

Hi Folks,
My daughter has a phone number she has had since childhood and wants to keep it, however she now has a business mobile that is all she uses, she would like to keep her number for the future so Im looking for the best (ie cheapest) plan to keep the number active. It would be ideal if we can set it to divert to her new number so i assume it will need a minimum number of calls/data?

Thanks for your help.

  • Park it at Vodafone and add credit as/if you need it

Aldi pay as you go- 365 day expiry. It will cost you $15 a year- minimum recharge.

    • Or use amaysim Pay As you Go and apply auto billing and you will only be charged for what you use.

Apply the referal credit offer for $10.

We use Lyca. $10 recharge minimum. Credit never expires: the only catch is that you have to make or receive a phone call or SMS once every 90 days, I think, and that will stop the credit from expiring.

I have kept the same $10 SIM alive for about 4 years now, still using the original $10 credit i put in 2013.

    • Love it! Another contender for the OzBargainer awards :)

    • What's the name of that plan? Link, please.

It's not really a plan. It's just the default Pay-as-you-go plan that's activated when you put money into your sim card.

Just order a SIM or buy it from the shops and recharge — easy

    • just casually text yourself every 90 days

    • …so what happens if the credits expire? Do you still get to receive calls or texts but just can't call or send texts yourself or what? If it's the former then I'm cool with letting the $10 expire just to have a dedicated receive only call/text number I can use forever…

    I use a TPG $1 a month pay-as-you-go plan.

    • So do I, but this hasn't been offered for new customers for many years.

This is a weekly request on ozbargain - how do I "park" my number?

  • $10/year for Vodafone Prepaid 365 plus recharges.

  • Thank you everyone, your assistance is much appreciated.

  • It's Yomojo $0 plan - total cost will be $2 (to get the sim) for the life of the plan.

    • Thanks..cant see how to get this.. they all seem to be 30 day expiry?

Go to choose your own plan and set calls, SMS, and data to zero and you're there. The account stays open. I'm still using mine 6 months after changing numbers. Occasionally I check my old number. Sent a text by mistake and got a bill for 9c last month!
