It's good price for what it is, but I recommend people to only buy Gigabit now.

100Mb/s ethernet is only good for ~11MB/s, which if you're moving a fair bit of data (eg backing up over network), is just too slow.

  • Not buying consumer D-Link again.
Had one of these die on me the other day & have had 3 gig ones go on me.
Gig is the way to go, but if your NAS is only 100 then prob no biggie.

  • These are fine for casual home use but be aware they do seize up every once in a while and require a hard reset.

I have a $20 generic 8-port switch which does an equally good job for well, $20.

$50 shipped with an 8GB USB isn't too bad though, but I do agree with Chris - you might as well go for GigE when it's only a little more expensive.

  • Ew.. Fast Ethernet.

  • I have been using Dlink for years and think, they are quite good. Though its person to person.
I dont think people buy switches alone now. Wifi routers are already coming with 4 or more ports.
and its more wireless these days than wire ( i used wired connection for xBox, but it is coming from my wifi Router).
8 gb USB is worth 25 bucks.

  • Avoid D-Link. They're the belkin of adsl/switches.
