Rated 93 points by James Halliday on 1st February 2017:
"I'm not convinced by the bouquet, which has some suggestion of reduction, but the palate makes up for that and more. It's only light-bodied, yet manages to encompass virtually every character and flavour you would expect from a 5yo chardonnay, with craggy acidity, melon, citrus of all kinds, and a dash of roasted nuts. The contribution from oak is of minimal influence or importance."

Winery notes:
Eagles Rest has made this Chardonnay to appeal to a broad range of Chardonnay-lovers. Lemon straw in colour, it features a restrained, minerally nose with notes of sea spray. The fantastic palate appeals with its beautiful structure and a salty Chablis-like quality, yet shows positive fruit weight.

Probably comes down to the wine you're buying. If we take the wine in this deal:

      -71% off
      -$8.25 a bottle
      -2011 vintage white
      - "manages to encompass virtually every character and flavour you would expect from a 5yo chardonnay"

What I get from this description:
      - Overpriced to begin with, so sales were slow, meaning this is a…
      - Clearance price so Grays can move excess stock that is…
      - about to go off. While White wines can age, you generally need a very good structure (from great fruit and good oak) to set it up to age a long time, so…
      - If this wine tasted like a 5yr old chardonnay when reviewed maybe 4-5 years ago now, it probably will taste like a 9 or 10 year old white wine that really was never made for aging.

Therefore, if it's not already vinegar, you will find yourself cooking with this wine.
