Would you suggest a Xiaomi Note 4X for Australia and European traveling?

Hi

I am looking for a new Android phone that would be suitable for Australia and traveling in Europe. I really like the Lenovo Zuk Z2 but only want to spend $200 Aud. I found this review:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VK9W_tq0wQs

And for sale at $200Aud:
International version:
http://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_621141.html
http://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_637662.html?wid=4
Global version:
https://www.banggood.com/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-4-Global-Edition-…

I am aware there is no B28 for Australia however in the price range there isn't much choice.

Thoughts on this phone at that price, is there a better phone and who would you suggest buying from (Gearbest, Bangood or other)

Avid Xiaomi user here, battery is amazing, had a Redmi Note 3 Pro, now rocking a Xiaomi Mi Max. For travelling, where you need to use Google Maps, its great! Battery will last and last. I can't say much for taking pictures though, the cameras ain't great on these phones. Might want to up it to the Mi5 or Mi5s, or even Mi4s for better cameras.

    • Thank you. One of the main reasons is for Google Maps - I assume I can install the google store and use maps?
If the camera is better than a Windows Phone Microsoft 640 hat would be great.
Should I only purchase the ones advertised as international / global rom etc?

      • If you get the international rom version, Google maps should already be installed. The phone works like any other Android phone with Play Store pre-installed. There's no lag, no overheating. Cameras are fine during the day, but not great in dark areas. Redmi Note3 Pro for B28 and slightly stronger CPU or 4X for slightyly better battery, with no b28 and slower CPU.

        • Thank you. I just purchased one. Looking forward to it arriving.

  • check out this

it should tell you if the phone is capable of being used and in which countries.

  • Most important thing will probably be gps for offline maps. here maps are pretty good.

I've had trouble with all the cheaper chinese mtk chipped phones in regards to gps, that was advertised but never worked.

you can download language packs for google translator too.

    I recently got a moto g5 plus 4/32 for 309 and it's really nice.

I've heard a lot of great things about Xiaomi and the note as far as budget phones go, but have been burnt too many times from the lesser known brands that promise the earth but rarely deliver.

  • Who would be the most reliable seller if it was DoA:
Bangood, Gearbest, Aliexpress Xiaomi stores or a different Aliexpress seller. This group has allot of sales and feedback:

  • No avoid at all costs… too much stuffing around..

  • Yes, great choice, happy to help with any questions.

  • No band 28 means no Telstra or Voda 4G?
