Hey You Free Coffee Scam

So received an email from Hey You! The other day which said blah blah we miss you do our short survey we will credit you a free coffee.

Did the survey and at the end it said we will email you your free coffee details the next business day.

Yesterday got an email from them saying they had sent the email by mistake and I had recently ordered with them hence no free cofffee.

I believe they are just phishing for emails or want people to do the survey to find out why people don't use their lousy app.

Truth is I used their app to order coffee once over a year ago, so not sure what they mean by I have recently used their app to order with them.

I found very few cafes near me who actually use it so didn't see the point.

Anyone else have a similar experience with this mob?

I believe they are just phishing for emails

Technically not phishing, they already have your email address.

Amaysim did this too - promised 1 GB free data for completing a survey. Get to the end … no ID information requested … week later, no free data. Customer support said it would be on the next renewal … one month later, still no free data. I gave up at that stage.

Just another example of Australia's largest businesses carrying out criminal activities. Business as usual.

  • I got the same email and they said the same… have written back demanding my free coffee!

  • Same here. Got the same email and same response.

  • I received the email and as a regular user I accept it was sent by mistake. I didn't read the original email until I received the followup stating sent in error.

Relax; Hey You app is great. There is no scam.

    • I could understand if it was a genuine mistake but to me it didn't seem genuine. As I started it's been a year or more since I ordered with their app.

      Glad you enjoy the app!

      • It's happened to me a couple times; been a user for years now.

Isn't that proof that they're doing this systematically?

  • Is there a way to see which cafes are supported by Hey You without setting up an account?

    • They usually have a sign out front, or ask a friend.

  • Same situation, this was about two weeks ago. Was disappointed about the complimentary coffee, but they responded to my feedback about the charged extra "service" fee with every order.
