I got the email from Plex - Get the original lifetime Plex Pass for $74.99! with code
I use Plex server on PC for movies library (personal,old DVD converted and downloaded) and then Chromecast them on TV. Nothing else.
Is it worth getting Plex lifetime pass?
If you divide the monthly cost with the lifetime cost the lifetime is worth it if you're going to use the subscription for more than two years
For $74.99 I'd say totally worth getting it, I bought it at full price and was iffy with it. With the conversion to AUD it was more then I was happy to pay (esp as I had no job at the time), but at this price I'd go for it. Overall you don't really need it, you can get embly for free or almost everything you can do on Plex is free but as someone who uses it often was worth supporting the devs and not have to worry about downloading the android apps or m$ apps etc.
Have you looked at EMBY? A lot of the functions you need to pay for in PLEX are in the FREE version of EMBY, though I've gotten a lifetime supporter sub with them. But if you're using it and you're enjoying it, it's a small price for support and features.

Can I install emby on my synology nas? (the server side) and then how can I play it on my LG TV?
Currently I'm running plex server on synology and play on LG TV because it has built in plex player.
Yes, a full featured mobile app. Not sure of the server side installation of an EMBY server, I run mine on a dedicated media PC and only use my NAS drives for storage (better trans-coding and multi-user capabilities). I think there is a LG TV app, or you use the browser on the TV to view the EMBY client.
Since you can use Plex from PS4/XB1 and mobile for free now i'd say it's probably not worth it anymore.
I ditched it and went back to to using kodi
The bandwidth it chews is incredible it was hogging everything i had to shut down the server and each device that had the app on to watch netflix without a stutter.
It all looked nice but thats about where it ends
I paid because I love the app so much. Probably one of the only app purchases I've ever made

Looks like it's $97 AUD. If you will use the premium features, it's a worthwhile investment.
I have used Plex for years, it's not perfect, but for $97, it does offer features that make it a good purchase.
Probably not but if you use it you should consider supporting the devs
