PayPal (different currencies)

I have set up PayPal to accept foreign currencies because it is more convenient, as their exchange rate is not so good.

However, I was just wondering if I have items in my eBay cart in different currencies because I have to reach a certain amount for a voucher, will it work if I change the PayPal default currency back to Aud?

I am currently watching an auction in pounds and if I win it I won't reach the minimum amount for the voucher so I have to add another item but it's unlikely it will be in pounds too.

Thank you for your opinion.

  • What do the terms and conditions of the voucher say?

  • Actually it has to do with PayPal rather than the voucher. Basically if you buy several items in one transaction the items have to be in the same currency as PayPal cannot combine different currencies in one transaction. I am currently looking at an item in GBD and one in AUD. I have chosen to pay in the original currency in PayPal so it wouldn't work but I was just wondering if I go back to the default settings to pay all items in AUD in PayPal if it would accept to combine these two items. I haven't won the auction yet so I cannot experiment. I was just wondering if anybody here has tried that. Thanks.

    • Maybe experiment with Buy It Now items in the 2 different currencies totalling to your voucher code requirements (Before that change your payPal settings to all AUD currency) Just Add To Cart those pretend items, do not Buy It NOw, and then at Checkout page, when you key in the eBay voucher, and tick PayPal, you will see if the voucher works. If it does, it most likely means your auction win will be accepted in the promo total if your settings on PayPal was changed.
(I guess this is the $20 off $100 purchase until 10/8 offer)

      • Good idea, thank you.
