How to Get a Decent + Cheap Iron?

I see Target has a $12 iron that I can get with free home delivery, but i've used a kmart iron before and it was pretty terrible. The coles one was roughly the same price but better.

How exactly do you tell whether a iron will be good without having the chance to test it (since obviously stores dont let you test irons before you buy it)?

They are all 2000w irons so that doesnt help much…

    Choice reviews the expensive ones.

I think you can do an equally good job, with almost any iron it just is more difficult and takes longer with some.

I have a Phillips Azure. It is good and cost about $70.

A sub $20 iron will most likely always be terrible because of the cheap plate.

Aldi have an iron in their special buys starting today:

    Might be worth a look.

Having picked up a "high end" iron I couldn't be happier with its performance lol

Look for high watts and look at the plate, the more "pores" (no idea what the technical term would be) and the smaller these are the better the spread of steam will be…least that's what some website told me when buying

    Just don't iron

  • Has anyone managed to get a decent iron for cheap? This is ozbargain after all.

The coles one is the best ive tried so far but i dont have much experience testing irons.

Also, what would be the cheapest/easiest way to get an ironing board? I dont have a car, so hand carrying it would be rather difficult.
