Hisense HR6FDFF701SW or Samsung SRF680CDLS Fridge

I am torn between the Samsung and the Hisense Fridge.
Does anyone have one or the other and can comment? Hisense does come with a 3 year warranty and is about 300-400$ cheaper. Samsung, to me is the better brand but I am not willing to pay for the brandname anyway.

The Hisense has few reviews on Productreview. The Samsung seems to have some issues with the ice maker, which is one of the main reasons we are getting this fridge. (so I can enjoy my Martinis with crushed ice….stired not shaken)

Thank you for your comments!

Picked up the Hisense a couple of months ago (old fridge died, got credit towards a new one) and haven't noticed any issues. Make sure you're happy with the 'different' layout inside of the fridge and freezer.

Haven't had any issues with the icemaker (although, it is quite loud and you can hear it making the ice when away from the fridge, but I have nothing to compare with). Crushed ice isn't great, but judge for yourself: http://imgur.com/a/PMHXN/

Runs relatively quiet, not sure what else to say. Ask me anything!

I'm pretty sure that the ice problem has been long sorted, check the dates of the comments you have read. I've had the Samsung for over a year now with no issues, but in saying that, the ice makers isn't as good as the Westinghouse it replaced.

  • Well, an update: my fridge has started displaying the dreaded ice maker leaking issue (I think it occurs when you don't use it enough, which we haven't been) so keep that in mind if you decide to purchase - I've heard a few other comments about the same experience. A bit disappointing.

    • sorry to hear donnot!! I'll definitely keep that in mind and use that as an excuse for having that extra Martini using crushed ice! I am sure it's a reasonable excuse: "sorry kids Mum had to have a Martini this afternoon to make sure the fridge does not break!"
