Pillow Top Cover for Bed

Hey Party People!

Being a man, I'm tough. 'Cos I'm tough, I got a MAN bed. I think my bed is so manly that the pavement out front is probably softer.

What if I wanted to jump in to bed and not break my arm?

Can someone recommend a supplier of a quality bed topper thing?

TIA

Kev

    ah.. yes, the newbie mistake of choosing a bed that's too hard and then regretting it months later.

    You can soften a bed using a variety of toppers. The many kinds of materials are:

    • Foam toppers. You sink into these easily… available cheaply, but can be hot in summer. Some have hybrid foam, (eg latex) which are more expensive then just 100% foam but can allow heat to dissipate a little quicker.

    • Polyester — soft and feels like a cloud, not as expensive as foam, but it can be too soft sometimes.

    • Wool toppers — the best kind — and also expensive, costing anywhere between $100~600. They are generally a cotton underlay on the backside with wool fleece on the front side. For max softness you buy 450 GSM and above. You sleep on the cotton side during summer and wool side during winter. Won't make you feel hot. Try a cheap option, but this one won't have a lot of padding..

    Brands to look for
    Jason
    Okaparinga don't seem to do toppers anymore?
    Mini Jumbuk
    Downtime

      Thanks :)

      Not sure if this matters much but my bed is a double Insignia Active Pure.

      Not after cheap…. Unless cheap is good. :)

      The goo filled memory topper @RowdyAlpha suggested is interesting but I'm not sure if that's what I'm after.

      I was looking to increase my sleeping comfort by about 38%. The Mini Jumbuck claims it will only improve sleeping comfort by up to 35%.
      How do they manufacture / measure sleeping comfort?

      What's the difference between the Mini Jumbuk models? More layers = more comfort?

      I knew I had seen that funny name somewhere. I have Okaparinga doonas and pillow covers.

        Are you just making a joke, or is this whole forum topic a troll?

          I'm not here to waste peoples time.
          @scrimshaw clearly understands my dilemma.
          Since I spend ~1/3 of my life in my bed, I want it to be comfortable and right for me.
          Do you know how do theyMini Jumbuck manufacture / measure sleeping comfort? Seems like a weird claim to make.

          @0xFFFF:

          It's just marketing fluff. Percentages are arbitrary values anyway, and how can comfort be measured in percentages, since comfort varies from person to person?

        • @scrimshaw:
          "marketing fluff"… pun intended? :)
          Thanks @scrimshaw.

          Would you recommend Mini Jumbuk?
          What about the height of my mattress? From what I've read mattress height varies.
          Any recommendations on where to buy?

          @0xFFFF:

          no real recommendation on shops. Use google search to find prices maybe

          mattress height is either 40 CM (very common) or 50CM height (considered a "super" size by some companies)
          if your mattress is not a pillowtop, you probably have one that is of a standard thickness.

        • @scrimshaw:

          I'll still measure just to be sure but it sounds like I've got standard thickness.

          Thanks again :)

      Thanks again @scrimshaw for your help. I ended up getting the miniJumbuck Deluxe mattress topper from Adairs for $345.76.
      The difference is amazing. I'm very happy with my purchase.
