How to know if Dick Smith purchases are coming from overseas, and thus attract GST?

Just bought a tablet from Dick Smith Online (https://www.dicksmith.com.au/da/buy/wacom-intuos-pro-pth660-…) - just went to scan the receipt and noticed no GST component.

So now I'm thinking this item is being sent from overseas and thus will attract GST on entry. Plus extra delivery time, warranty implications..

I didn't even think twice about this when ordering due to being at their "Australian Store".

Anyone know the story?

That should only apply to orders over $1000, if their Knowledgebase article is correct.

And according to the ATO, GST payable on low value import goods will not take effect till next year.

So right now, you do not have to pay GST on your Wacom, but next year, you would.

    • Ah they've moved the GST date forward a year - I didn't realise. Thanks.

It's grey import. In the last line in overview, it says dick smith electronic. If you open the t and c, dicksmith electronics is based in hong kong.

    • Looks to be the way - thanks. 'Dick Smith' if from Australia, 'Dick Smith Electronics' if from overseas.
