Where to Find Château Lafite Rothschild 1996

Hi,

I don't know much about wine but just trying to help my friend to find a dozen of Château Lafite Rothschild 1996 vintage.

Would appreciate if anyone know how to find this in Australia or more specifically in Sydney.

Thanks!

    yeah right

    Average price US$2,100 each.

if your friend is willing to drop $25,000 on a case of wine then he'd use a wine merchant.

  • Google is handy.

Looking at around $30,000 a dozen,if you can source stock.

    • Yeah doesn't seem to have stock in Australia. Just wondering if anyone here know some merchant that deals with wine.

    Have you checked Dan Murphy's?

They also have much cheaper wines there, you can get a bottle of red for like $4.

Ironically in the 1950/60s the Prahran store would have been my first port of inquiry.
Young Liberals second. Remember a Captain Cook Port that was the best ever. Long time ago :)

      • I loved the old DM store in Prahran. cases of wine stacked precariously every where. the vaulted ceiling. musty and mysterious to a youngest in the 70s

  • Seems like China has plenty of CLR stocks

"In early November 2012, police in the city of Wenzhou, China seized nearly 10,000 bottles of Châteaux Lafite Rothschild, but they suspected the stash of wine was counterfeit. Lafite is very popular among China's nouveau riche, but analysts suspect that between 50 to 70 percent of Château Lafite Rothschild in China is fake. If genuine, this particular collection would have been worth up to $16 million (US).[5][6][7]"

  • I got a Dozen, just use Western Union for your money transfer. Wine is bit old, so I give you 50% discount. 10K should do it. PM me for details.

    This is a joke.

    • I'm the director of a very good Nigerian bank.

Tell your friend to send me his account deatils and I'll organise everything!

  • I got an email from a guy in Nigeria telling me that he was the son of the recently deposed finance minister and that he had to smuggle several cases of this out of the country. If i could just pay the agents fees to him via Western Union in advance he would let me keep a case or 2!
