  • Does it work with iPhones?

    • +18

Nope, the iphone does not have wireless charging.

        Thank you!

You'll need the latest iP8 Phone for that feature, if rumours are to be believed.

Kind of surprised Apple hasn't had wireless charging in any of their current phones. They could've milked a lot of dollars selling iPhone-compatible charging mats that worked with nothing but iProducts.

@scrimshaw: this be true. Probably a point of the waiting til the tech is good enough and then they'll jump on it.

Adoption otherwise has been pretty low i think over the years from Windows phone and android manufacturers

        • +8

@adrianhughes1998: No. The tech is more than good enough. There was a patent dispute with Qualcomm and Apple didn't want to pay the royalties.

Premium Android phones have had it for years. It's not in every phone and never will be, because it comes at an extra cost. And not all Androids are marketed as premium products.

@lostn: true about android. I personally found wireless charging useless.

Quick charge on the other hand is just too awesome. Should be on more and more and more phones than it is at the moment.

@adrianhughes1998: I love wireless charging and I can also fast charge with mine. Far better than using a plug in type charger.

        • @imurgod: I find wireless charging to be a gimmick. As far as I'm aware you can't use the phone and charge it at the same time considering the phone has to be on the pad. With a cable you can pick up the phone to check notifications or reply to messages whilst the phone is charging.

@WinstonWithAY: true but I read somewhere that using your phone while it's charging, you could overheat the battery.

I like wireless charging because it stops the charging port from being worn (or damaged as has happened to me).

Ultimately, you're right, it's probably a bit gimmicky outside that but I love it regardless.

The point is that it's always charging the moment you put it down on your desk. If you're the kind of person who sits down at a desk and leaves your phone there the whole day, then there's probably not much benefit. But people who frequently get up and walk around would find it very convenient as they won't have to constantly plug/unplug their phone.

I attached my wireless charger into my car's phone holder so every time I slip the phone in, it automatically starts charging. It charges the phone even while navigating with the gps on and playing music over Bluetooth.

With a cable you can pick up the phone to check notifications or reply to messages whilst the phone is charging.

I've seen many charging cables or usb sockets in phones get damaged by being used while charging. The cable gets pulled at an angle while being used, causing damage.

A friend of mine has an S7 in a LifeProof case, which has a snap-on cover for the usb port. Being able to pop it onto a wireless charger is much more convenient than having to un-snap the cover every single time.

        • @eug: Yeah you make good points. For me personally it would be more of a hindrance than a benefit hence why I don't plan to spend money on it.

@imurgod: It does overheat. You shouldn't do heavy tasks while charging. i keep it to watching videos and browsing social media

Thought this was a joke question from the last deal. So here's an answer from the last deal:
As a phone holder - Yes
As a phone charger - No

  • Do these have a bright charging light?

  • How would you compare this with the Samsung or Belkin ones. Blitzwolf is quite a good company, I really liked their 4 port chargers. Can't decide on this though, for s8….

    • +1

It's a lot cheaper. If you can't afford the Samsung one, get this. The Samsung fast charger can also tilt up, so that your phone can be standing while charging, and you can watch a movie or something.

          LOL

  • Got the Choetech branded one for around the same price and it's also a fast charger. Works well with my s6 edge+.

    • Do you recommend a seller for the Choetech?

  • +3

    upto 49 days shipping.. Lol

    • Was gonna say that, aliexpress's express is shocking unless seller use DHL etc..

    • +6

      Still faster than Roboguy!

  • +1

got one for s8+, does the job pretty well.

    • is it turbo charging? my samsung fast charger only charges normal speed

      • yet it is.

      • yes you definitely need fast charger output for this to take advantage of its original purpose.

  • I didn't know I needed this. Thanks

Bangoood has it as well. Base price $24.59 AUD, 15% off with code: CellAcc2. Brings it to $20.85 AUD (and ever so slightly cheaper in USD).

  • Lads and ladies, how does it compare to USB chargers in terms of speed?

    • It should be about as fast as a standard fast USB charger (5V 2A), i.e. a non-QC2.0 wired charger.
