G6 is a far better built phone, metal v plastic. V20 is amazing value but I would pay the extra for the G6 every time.

      • v20 is metal, not plastic. (Posted from a V20)

        • Only the battery cover and buttons:

We have two v20s in my family and I have a G6 and there is a big difference in build quality, you can feel it just by picking them up.

G6 has a slightly better CPU and apparently LG claimed they fixed the bootloop issue (which is a hardware soldiering issue). However, LG have previously claimed certain batches of G4 are free of the bootloop issue, only to have users complained about it few months later.

    • I'd take G6 as LG promised not to have this bootloop issue again. But I don't trust them no more, so neither

  • With 2G networks shutdown in NSW by Optus, does this mobile work on 3G secondary and primary LTE?

    • It has all our bands.

    • Snapdragon 820 is capable of supporting 3G on the secondary SIM in dual standby. However, not sure whether LG implemented it.
A lot of older dual SIM phones do not really work in dual SIM mode anymore (even though both SIM individually can support 3G when it is the only SIM in used, only 1 3G can be active, the other one is essentially 2G/GSM only).

        4G + 3G on my V20 here.

    • +1

Yes it supports 3G standby so your second SIM isn't wasted. I can even hot-swap between them inside the OS and even make the second SIM as the data SIM (on 4G nonetheless) while using my first SIM for calls/messages and vice versa. Very well made.

  • I can only tell you my experience, I have had an LG V20 grey import for over 12 mths now, it has performed flawlessly, great phone, the camera is very ordinary compared to Samsung Apple though. I bought it very cheap. Therefore I have my money out of it already.

    • As I remember, V20 started selling from Oct 2016, at that time the price was not cheap. It was only 10 months gone. Maybe I am wrong, never mind.

The camera is actually a strong point of this phone - from what I can see, it compares well to iPhone/Samsung.

Learn how to use manual settings, they make a world of difference.

  • Both V20 and G6 are awesome. V20 for one of the family. V20 is a very large phone though. Bigger than the S8 plus.
Had the G4 and that died at 18mths. Didn't even bootloop. Was out of warranty and T-Dimension which were no help at all. Surprised I went for the G5 which is still going strong. G6 has been absolutely brilliant, battery is really good.

That being said, LG has probably one of the worst customer service of any large company. They constantly delete any bad feedback posted on their FB page, and do not even make any attempt to answer any posts/messages if they are to do with a problem or negative feedback. Happened to myself and a friend. She had an issue with her TV, which was repaired twice, and had issues with the rudeness of the service/warranty people and posted about it, and it was deleted within 24 hrs. She had to get the HN manager to get onto LG too in the end. At least other companies reply to call or msg customer service, and leave the posts there.

If it wan't for the very good and fast price drops in LG's flagship phones I would probably look at other brands. Also they seem to support the phones for a reasonable length of time with firmware updates, even compared to Samsung.

    • Curious to know how many updates the V20 has had since you bought it?

      • Had it for 8 weeks. There was an immediate update. Can't remember what it updated to though. Did a quick look on XDA. Some phones have received a June 1st security update. The TWN DS version hasn't yet though

        • I got my TWN DS v20 last week, and it got the June 1st security update yesterday.

Still running Android 7.0, but there's rumors that its going to get 7.1.2 soon

Had mine for maybe 3 months and I think 3 updates in that time. Seems reasonably good. But I don't have anything to compare it to as it's my first Android phone I haven't rooted.

    • My experience with LG customer service is the same -woeful service!!! Long delays for repairs (my case 8 weeks). How do you go without a phone for 8 weeks??

  • LG bootlooped my dog.

Important notice on Dual Sim mobile, tablet update
Please note that most Dual Sim mobiles and tablets sold at eGlobaL are Dual Sim "StandBy" only.
Which means the second sim card only uses the 2G or GSM network.
As Australia will be shutting down 2G/GSM network services starting end of 2016.
These mobiles usage on second sim will be affected. You can still have both sim slot filled, however only one sim slot will work at a time. There will be an option on the device for you to select which sim slot you wish to use.
We strongly recommend you to check with your service provider before making the purchase.

Dual sim means nothing for us in Australia but a spare sim slot unless it is clearly stated that the second slot supports 3G/4G along with the first slot at the same time which this phone does not.
I have a dual sim with 3G/4G support when I use one sim as 4G the other only works as a 3G slot and both receive calls at the same time. If I deactivate 3G or 4G Only one slot works. If I deactivate 3G and 4G at the same time, I see no coverage.

  • I got this phone from the last eglobal deal. Was very happy with it until last night. I went to get the phone off the charger and found that the end of the cable that plugs into the phone had basically melted. I managed to get the remnants of the cable out of the phone. The phone is still working, the charger is still working, but when I charge with my one remaining usb-c cable I don't get the fast-charging message on the phone.

So, wondering whether it was dodgy cable or a problem with my phone or with the LG charger. Anyone care to make an educated guess? I've charged it up today with my Xiaomi power bank without any issues.
