First time having the $200 travel credit.
How should I go about searching for the best deal to utilise the credit?
What are some of the best ways / deals for using the credit?

There's no good deals on amex travel - you can buy all the hotels/flights cheaper on other websites.
Best option is to find something exactly for the amount of your credit, so you don't spend any extra or waste the unused amount.
Once I found a hotel (in India) significantly cheaper on Amex travel than any other site, so its worth checking!

Most likely reason is that amex website was out of date … but they still honored the booking. Guessing if you waiting a bit, it would've updated to be similar price to the other websites.
I'm not saying that finding a pricing error like that isn't a good deal, just they're few and far in between.

Correct.
You can make a booking for someone else. Similar to the free domestic flight previously offered (which was worth more and much easier to sell).
I eventually found a hotel which was within $50 of everywhere else for a trip I was going on, so used it on that. Prices are not the best, but no other option as far as I can tell.
If you buy one of these travel credits, it is a hell of a lot of stuffing around. I wouldn't even consider it unless a 30% discount.
