Dell XPS13

Hey guys wondering where the best/cheapest place for me to be to get a dell XPS13? Just need a basic i5 model. Or would it be worth waiting to get the 8th gen CPU ones?

    8th-gen would be worth it.
    The 6th-gen and 7th-gen are at the SAME efficiency .
    So if someone says a certain 7th-gen Kaby Lake chip is faster, know its also using proportionately more battery power.
    The biggest change for the 7th-gen chips is the new Intel Iris iGPU and the move to exclusively use DDR4 RAM.

    Why do I say 8th-gen would be worth it?
    Well, we've had some leaks. And it seems Intel has been defeated by their own incompetence by AMD's Ryzen chips.
    So Intel is pushing to kill off the 7th-gen chips early and introduce the 8th-gen chips, and give them a slight boost as well.
    So we're now looking at QUAD core i5/i7-U's, and SIX core i7-HQ's.
    It's still based on Intel's leading* 14nm FF+ lithography, so what this probably means is a revision of their microarchitecture, removable of toothpaste inside the chipsets, and using new heatpipe/vaporchambers in Ultrabooks. Again, its just leaks at the moment… but the industry really needs Intel to start innovating or competing or simply yield to another leader like AMD.
    We're not sure how AMD Ryzen will compete in that regard, perhaps they won't enter the laptop segment. Or perhaps it will mean the death of Intel's bad chipsets (Pentium, Celeron, Atom, Core M3, Core i3)… as a lower-cost but better Ryzen APU might overthrow to claim the low-end segment.

    This means that 2018 mainstream laptops (8th-gen) would be much more efficient than 2015 mainstream laptops (6th-gen).
    It also means with Quad cores and TB3 located in-chips, Ultrabooks with eGPU will become mainstream, if you're into that sorts.
    BUT ! If you need a laptop now then none of this matters to you, just get something decent that will last you well.

    *Intel's lithography is actually slightly behind the efficiency of Samsung's 10nm lithography, however, they're still noticeably above other competitors like GloFo and TSMC's 16nm/14nm (non-FF) lithography technologies.
