Ordering from Alibaba.com - Does Anyone Know How to Protect Yourself if Some Prices Seem Too Good (I.e. Possible SCAM) ?

Hi OzB,

I've been looking to start a business buying/selling computer hardware and I've been looking at Alibaba.com to fullfil some orders. Now some of the prices quoted are ridiculously low compared to the sell prices here (like evga 1080 Ti ftw3 for 350 usd each, min order quantity of 2).

The payment options are credit card, bank transfer, master card, western union
So my question is there some way that I can ensure that I can retrieve my funds if the transaction is fraudulent (i.e. something like PayPal purchase protection?)

Does anyone know of any methods?

Thanks

      oh thanks!
that is precisely what I am looking for (and boy did the number of cheap vendors go down once you tick the trade assurance button XD)

Seriously? With Amazon's launch around the corner, MSY's sharp pricing, and eBay sales, you think this is a wise business choice?

    You're nuts.

      He'll be the next Roboguy.

    • He is a genius.. So many people boycott these well known vendors for irrational reasons or past experiences or just because it's different.. believe me when I say side selling even with the big guys as long as you stay ultra competitive is a good idea.

      • And how will you possibly be competitive with their buying power? Talking such small margins it just doesn't warrant the effort involved

        • If it's a small business skimming off the side then profit is profit.

  • Use Alipay

  • Be realistic. If it's too good to be true, it probably is. You'd be out of money for that period when you want to return it. No way would a 1080Ti be 350

    • The Chinese are from the future.. that 1080ti has already seen years of work before being sold.

  • Waste time a no. Flake!
