Anyway to spend Telstra prepaid recharge credit?

Hi all, over the years, I've accumulated $250 of Telstra prepaid recharge credit (mostly due to ignorance). Now that I'm ready to move on, is there anyway to make use of the credit? I've heard of t-cashback, payback etc but haven't had any concrete information as to whether they work or whether they are scam.

Any thoughts?

      This (for 55% return).

Alternative - transfer $30 a time to another active Prepaid Plus Sim (via phone call to Telstra). This will give you all the perks of a $30 starter kit (without the $30 credit).

But you'll only end up with $29 after the CM2U fees?

Or are you saying you get Telstra to do it themselves and there's no fee + you can do it it all at once (otherwise max $10/day).

When you say "all the perks of a $30 starter kit" - Prepaid plus, for example?

          Is the above possible? How?

        • @dragonindespair: yep, Telstra does it in one hit. Not sure if they charge 25c.just call and ask. You will get the data and unlimited calls but no credit.

        • @tunzafun001: But then what does that mean for your first SIM? Seems like the first SIM becomes useless after the transfer?

And also you're saying by transferring the total $29 over, it triggers the data & unlimited calls even though it's not $30?

        • @illumination: Op says they have $250 on a sim. Needs to be a full $30.

        • @tunzafun001: Ah right I see what you're saying.

Sorry I was thinking purely from $30 starter kit point of view.

the best way is to sell them. but at discount rate of course.

You can sell them off slowly using Credit Me 2 U on ebay. However, you will only get back a fraction of the amount you sell and you will also be competing with others who have the same deal

How did you get so much?

Presumably on the Freedom Plus or a similar plan where your recharge credit just rolls over every month if you don't use premium sms or google play.

  • If you are looking at giving up your freedom plus plan I'd be keen to take it up if possible, chatted on Telstra live chat and they said you can change the number on an existing plan so I think it might be possible.

  • You could give to needy members like myself because your goodwill makes you a great guy lol. Please reply my PM back
