      Why was this negged?

Legit reason to as it's easy to share-view with your phone or cast to your tv

If it makes a difference in your situation, the Samsung handles reflections far better than the LG. So if you have a window behind or to the side of the TV, then that could be your deciding factor.

The LG has better sound than the Samsung. Although, that can be easily fixed with a sound bar.

    I prefer the Samsung remote.

A mate of mine has a Sony and it is continually freezing and needs to be restarted.

    • Nah, have you tried LG's magic remote (like Wii chuck ? )

      I completely disagree.

I'm comparing an LG to a Samsung, both quite comparable in their range.
I found the Samsung to have acceptable sound levels, and the LG to be too quite.
The Samsung had a very glossy screen, while the LG had a glossy screen that was "workable".
I found the small LG magic remote to be very well, however the Samsung's looked more premium it was very laggy making you hit buttons multiple times to see if they worked, and the touchpad on the remote was very poor quality.

      And Sony?
Well they've had a reputation for having the best built-in speakers, and input latency. However, their panels were so-so. AndroidTV was hyped immensely, but it is not as great of a user experience than many thought.

So it doesn't depend on Samsung vs LG. No, that's wrong.
It depends on which specific model vs model.
Any OEM can make a dud, Samsung is no exception.

To the OP, in order of importance:
1- Compare the prices (small differences don't matter, but a more expensive tv could in fact offer more value)
2- Compare the UI/User Experience (webOS vs AndroidTV vs Tizen, this is a very underrated component)
3- Compare the input latency (this is NOT the refresh rate, and this can make or break)
4- Compare the picture video quality (don't believe buzz words, sometimes even a cheap panel can be surprisingly good)

      • 5 - in case it wasn't clear enough upscaling. Watching good quality upscaled content can mean a difference between low quality upscaled content.

Get the most expensive one out of the two and then sell it, then buy the one you want.

    • LG its is then……….

    http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/mu7000

    Picture: Samsung is slightly better
    Motion: LG is much better
    Sound: LG is slightly better
Gaming: LG has less input lag (also supports 120hz @ 1080p for PC gaming)
Smart features: Similar but LG has better remote

    Hope that helps.

  • Where's the poll?

I recommend Samsung. Just about everyone I know has one and doesn't have any trouble with them. And if you have an galaxy s6 or above, you can use it as a remote.

    • Can use virtually any phone with any tv considering its a android phone with a smart tv

  • That Sony looks real nice though. Damn son I would keep trying for the Sony ha ah lol.

  • The Samsung MU7000 is well received on rtings.com so go for that, it seems LG is focusing all their efforts on the OLED tvs which are amazing (and to justify their high price tags it makes sense to make their non-oleds quite poor relatively speaking to highlight how good OLEDs are).

I am personally tossing up between getting Samsung MU7000, Sony X9000e,Sony X8500e, or taking a risk and going the Hisense N7 (hoping it will be just like the popular M7000 series). We all can't get OLEDS afterall hahahah

  • Would go samsung had a panasonic great picture lasted just over 2years lucky for extended warranty grabbed a lg for some reason hasnt got good blacks spewing i didnt go for a sony :(

  • went with Sony XE85 - lots of inbuilt apps which i will be using kodi, Synology Apps, iOS mirror compatibility and seriously love facebook videos app which shows my facebook feed.

My Old TV was LG with Web OS which I think is lame and only got 10 good apps most of other apps are worthless on LG
