  • I live in Cairns (regional post) is it worth getting the extended warranty? Or will they just tell me when the TV dies it was somehow my fault? Happy to pay an extra $90 for 5 year peace of mind as long as it includes two way shipping paid for by them.

    • To be honest I have no idea with these things either. I just found the deal while hunting maybe somebody else with more first hand knowledge can fill us in.

I personally have not had a defective purchase or returned anything under warranty so my knowledge is limited.

    • TV's are pretty reliable compared to most household items. That said Kogan are a less reliable brand of TV. Source: Choice

      • My Kogan tv had lasted me well over 5 years and going strong with no issues. The EPG is very slow to run but assist from that can't fault it. Don't compare pic quality with to range and you will be happy

My experience was pretty good: I bought a Kogan 42 inch TV in 2013 (with the standard 3 year warranty) and a few pixels started to die after 2 years. I sent it back (they paid for postage) and my claim was accepted after a few days. They didn't have the same TV so refunded me what I paid for it initially.

    Has been cheaper FWIW

    • What's the rule on product reposts or bumps?

  • Wow TV's have sure gotten cheaper. This seems pretty fairly priced but I wonder how it comes to my current TV (pretty old LG 1080p 144hz LCD TV but with a black line at the bottom due to damage).

    • To be honest I wouldn't really bet on these models having amazing upscaling which is what makes your standard and hd content look really nice on a 4k screen but everything else is pretty on par with their higher end counterparts and even oleds except of course the oleds amazingly perfect black levels because no back lighting.

Here is a good reviews I found of these kogans versus some higher model tv's.

If you want to pony up and get the next level I would assume it would be the Hisense 55N6 and 55N7 which are about $1000 and $1300 respectively on their good sales but that's like twice the price for not that much to be honest maybe better smart tv functionality.

      😄

      • 😅

  • Mods let me know if I should post the other kogans as a separate deal to get better exposure as my title is kind of only directed at the promo one.

Nevermind we have pro users. 😊😊😊😅

  • Anyone has one?? How is it?? I mean given its size and a 4k screen with a 60hz refresh rate isnt it abit low????

    • +2

I don't have one but from the specs there is NO HDR and NO SMART TV CAPABILITIES so it is just a 4k 60 frames per second dumb tv which is not bad considering the other options.

    • I have this model Kogan TV and I'm really impressed with it. It does have an LG panel in it which definitely helps.

My only gripe with it is the remote is laggy, but that's a small price to pay to say roughly $1k on an equivalent Samsung TV.

I have one ( 49 " 4k non smart paid 350$ new from dick smith on ebay), it has a bit of motion blur in some games (Injustice 2 for example) but general viewing is fine. Don't forget to checkout dick smiths ebay page you can usually get these tvs cheaper. I was actually quite impressed for what i paid.

  • Just a heads up, bought it 4 dead pixels in the middle of the screen, seems ok for the price. Picture is a bit lacking in colour. Sound seems ok.

    • Thanks for the feedback. Yeah would not expect much from Kogan.

      • Honestly though I would say overall the picture quality is good. I've got no complaints, even in dark scenes the 4 white pixels are hard to notice because of the high resolution. You have to be looking for them to see them, unless you're an easily frustrated person I don't think most people would care. The sound is better than past TV's I've had as well. For the price I think it's a good deal but of course experience is subjective.
