Fritzbox Port Forwarding - for Chrome Remote Desktop

Hi guys just had to replace over an old D-Link and managed to score a 7272 at a good price - but can't figure out what port numbers in the latest fritz OS or what menus I should be playing around with to get it working?!

The info on portforward.com is out dated and all attempts at allowing 443 and 5222 (which apparently chrome remote desktop use) are failing.

I've sent AVM an email asking to do it but ze Germans haven't responded yet.

Everything was working fine prior to the hardware change.

Also if you know to setup the internal answering machine on a single line/DSL connection a little would be great with that too.

Thanks for the help

My two cents; sorry if info incorrect or unclear.
TL;DR, it should just work. If not, it's likely some content filtering that's blocking it.

From what I can gather, you're kind of right on ports 443 and 5222.

Bit more info, It needs to allow inbound UDP responses.
Outbound you need to allow 443 (allow you to browse https site) and 5222 (which is XMPP)

Most modems don't block outbound comms, so you're likely good there.
Inbound UDP might be the issue. Not entirely sure on how to do this on Fritz.

As you've suggested, the fritz guys should be able to assist.

    • thanks for the reply mate, i got an answer from the support desk - they said they didnt use it so they couldnt advise, i've shot them the details in the hopes that i get a step by…

i managed to the get the answering machine working - there was a special splitter cable in the box they appears to work well. Not sure what's different from the one i plugged in originally but its doing its thing.
