RM Williams Belt Worth It?

Hey guys,

Tearing my hair out trying to find a nice belt for my boyfriend - he only has one brown one that is wearing down at the back loop. He's a big fan of R.M. Williams and has a few pairs of their boots. He favours durability far more than brand-name so I wanted to avoid designer brands.

I've found a nice one that's "solid hide" (does that mean full grain? I have no idea, sorry) and doesn't break the bank. However, he mentioned that he previously had an RM Williams belt that "broke apart" on a night out and surmised that they must outsource their belt manufacturing to a different factory of lesser quality. Quick research says the belts are also made in Australia and I'm unsure if he previously had a faulty one or something. Does anyone have good experiences with RM Williams belts and how long did they last for before general wear and tear made them look bad?

Thanks.

  • No idea about rmwilliams but why not take him online buy a belt blank and buy the buckle ect that he wants and make a unique one for him.

    • Agree

    • I had no idea this was a thing! Thanks - I'll look into it although are there any sites/sellers you'd recommend?

do you have a local 'old school' shoe repairer?

our 'old school' man cuts full grain leather belts himself, just find a buckle you like

my last belt cost me $10 (i used my old buckle) and it's 4 years old now and i guess it'll still be going strong in another 10 !
