Would ACER Be Kind Enough to Swapping a Laptop for Another Model?

Context of why I'm asking.
Last year, around Christmas, I bought an ACER Predator G15 from MSY. The thing was great to use and it did all I wanted it to do, but University semester was around the corner and I thought I could carry the laptop to and from uni without a problem….I was so wrong. I've managed to make it this far, but starting to get back problems carrying almost 3.5kg on my back everyday, and I've had enough.

So I'm asking if anyone has had a situation where a company would switch the laptop + an additional payment, from a customer service perspective? I know it's a big ask but, hey, I just wanted to know :D.

Note: laptop is in great condition, no scratches or dents and I have warranty left till December.

    I doubt it
    Try emailing or calling
Most people in this situation sell them to put towards another one

    • Looks like thats my go to plan now :(

Very unlikely. Why ask here though - Acer is who you should be asking, we can only guess. Why don't you just sell your laptop and buy another? Sounds like you could sell pretty easily given the good condition it is in.

    • That was plan B, just wondering if anyone had done this before on similar terms.

I assume the weight and dimensions were clearly specified prior to the purchase.

    • Yeah I saw those thought I could handle it, like I said I was so, so, so, so wrong :(

I don't think it's up to Acer, but msy. good luck.

OP should've been carrying 10kg bricks, so when he actually carries the laptop, it's easier

Nope…. You'll have to sell the unit and buy something else.

Do you have some sort of spinal disorder/condition?

    • Not that I know of, no.

Maybe you aren't wearing your backpack correctly then. 3.5kg should be absolutely no issue for any healthy adult of the usual university age.

        • The laptop by itself weighs 3.4 kg. I'm guessing he has an extra kg or two of books and stuff in there as well.

        • Well my bag broke due to the laptop and I've repaired it a bit dodgy. But yeah I am carrying other things including my laptop, but I'll look into the bag issue and how I'm wearing it. Thanks! 😊

    • sounds like they will if they continue to carry this behemoth around!

Perhaps the title should read, "… be kind enough to…" rather than "honour"…

Pretty sure that Acer or MSY made no promise that you could cart it around in your pack without it causing you discomfort (seriously though? 3.5kg? that's only… what… 4 bottles of wine?). So any moves by them or MSY would be solely based on a desire for warm fuzziness… Your best bet may be to sell and buy something more suited.

    • Correct… nothing wrong with the unit, Acer needs to 'honour' nothing. This is a change of mind for a near 12 month old notebook.

Sounds more like the OP wants a 'upgrade'

    • Yeah good point, I should edit the title!

I find this a really odd request.

  • Don't worry, a few years at uni will crush the optimism out of you.

LOL I've only heard it happen with Apple. This is why you buy products from a company with a customer comes first view.

    • Every single customer experience ive had with Acer over the past 10 years has been absolutely horrible. In my experience, they couldn't care in the slightest about their customers :|
