LG 22m38 Monitor Any Good?

There an lg 22m38 monitor 2nd hand (boxed and unused apparently) for $50. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with them. Are they any good for gaming and general use?

Thanks

    5ms response time… must be crap

    • Thanks. As I assumed! I'll pass.

      • 144hz monitors = the good stuff for gaming

        as long as you have the wallet to afford it and the graphics card to drive it (I use a Korean X-Star DP2414 LED and GTX 1060)

        • ah ok, I thought 5ms response time was crap for gaming and general action on screen.

          What about the extreme gradient? "At desktop distance there is an extreme gradient from dark at the top to light at the bottom. For a wall display that will be looked at from a distance it's not as noticeable.
          Very disappointed in the default color settings. Reminded me of very early color televisions where people had purple skin and green hair (don't get me wrong… I like green hair)."

          @subywagon:

          Gamers won't need color accurate screens, it's something to consider if you're photo editing.

          Generally speaking the list of things you'd want if you're gaming is

          • 1 or 2ms response times
          • Refresh rates higher than 60hz is good. 75hz displays can be had for less than $200
          • Freesync or G-Sync support

          The nice-to-haves are
          * G-sync (this is mentioned twice because G-Sync is a proprietary technology owned by Nvidia, and monitors with it cost a premium)
          * Overclockable displays (not strictly required, but some displays are better at overclocking than others)
          * IPS or PLS display
          * Fully Pan/tilt/pivot displays
          * Height adjustment

          And the "Luxury" features are
          2k or 4k resolution
          high color gamut percentage (90 percent or higher), this is important for creative work.

          An example of a high end gaming monitor could be Acer Predator XB1, which is pretty expensive but ticks quite a lot of boxes, or there is a more basic LG 24MP59G-P which has IPS + 75hz Freesync display.

          you won't find a monitor that ticks all the boxes locally though, and even if you could, it would cost a hefty premium.
