TRS Refund with eBay Discount

Hi everyone,

I bought a camera from Ted's when eBay had their 20% discount and received the tax invoice with the total amount + GST (without ebay discount).

But the invoice also states this:

Confirmed by Staff: Ebay 20% off Sale: please deduct 20% off the price of the receipt to calculate actual price paid after Ebay discount coupon.

Just wondering if anyone else have had experience claiming a TRS refund with this note on the invoice?
Will I get a refund for the full GST amount excluding the ebay discount?

Thanks!

  • Depends if you want to lie to the ATO…My integrity is worth far more than any financial gain.

  • Why would you want to claim full GST if you only paid 80% of the GST to the retailer? So you intend to cheat the government? Somewhere the accounts wont match and the retailer may be out of pocket for the amount you claimed.

This question has been asked before: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/310492 There might be more in the linked accountant AMA thread.

    • Thanks!

  • do I really have to spell it out for you? do you want me to hold your hand while I deliver you the news? Geez..

    • Could you hold my hand?

  • There's so many people fraudulently using this total waste of time, energy and money of a scheme, you're a drop in the ocean.

Op, the retailer gets the whole amount from this transaction. They've collected 100% of the gst for this transaction.

    • Thanks!
