Go MasterCard - Making It Interest Free Again

I have an interest free Go MasterCard and I stupidly made purchases ontop of the original interest free purchase.

and now I'm paying interest but for some reason whatever many I pay comes off of the interest free amount and not the other purchases.

Is this how these cards work if you make extra purchases i.e.. using it as a normal credit card, you can't pay them off until you pay out the interest free purchase?

balance of the card is ~$3000 made up of ~$2300 (whats left of the original interest free amount expires 07/2020) and ~$700 (Normal CC purchases)

My Question is can I make the card interest free again by making a payment of $700 or do I need to pay the full $3000?

Please remember this is OzBargain so read the terms and conditions or call the Go Mastercard customer service help line

  • Yeah, sure! Why not?

  • Contact them and ask them to change your payment hierarchy

Also ask them to reallocate your past payments they way you want them. Generally they are ok with this

  • CC accounts opened after July 2012 should have payment hierarchy default as - payments to be applied to higher interest items/charges first.

Presume your account was opened before July2012

as chumlee mentioned above - call and ask them to change your payment hierarchy - they cannot say no.
