Dishwashers, I'm Looking for Deals

We've moved but the wife is pushing for us to get a dishwasher, which is fair enough. I was delaying it until there was an awesome deal, I haven't found one. Does anyone know of a good value but still awesome dishwasher?

Wife wants to pay for a $1200 SMEG dishwasher, I like the look of a Bosch $669 one.

I too was looking for one a few weeks back and backed off as i'm going to wait for Boxing Day or near that period for some deals.
After visiting HN, GG and the like, most of the sales people were pointing me to the Miele.
The 6 Serie Bosch that was on special for around $600, however the sales people said that this unit has a plastic base and will not last too long after warranty. This one is made in Turkey.
Miele G4920 has this on special last month for $1399 and has got many positive reviews. This one is made in Czech.

I am still leaning to a German Made Miele … as it is highly efficient and has a auto door opening feature for better drying. Furthermore, bullet-proof build.

You can immediately tell when you open the door, Stainless steel washer arms throughout the machine and filters. Where others are plastic. Have a look when you go to the retailers next time.

However the price point is around $2500 and not sure if it is really worth the extra money. Many of others say yes but hopefully, Miele will knock off a few hundred at a Christmas sale.

I would still wait, as Christmas is not too far away.

    Cheers

    • Nothing against them.

        except price maybe?

        • With $1200 u can get a entry level miele

        • @chenrenchun: So, slightly less than double the price of the one he was looking at…

  • I bought a whirlpool dishwasher from masters in this deal 5 years ago for $382. been going strong since.

My only gripe is that maxwell & williams dinner plates are a tad to wide to fit normally in the plate slots as the turny spray arm hits it so I have to place the plates in the "corners"

    • same thing with an Omega that I had recently

  • This Dishlex has good reviews and I had appliances online price match Electric Discounter in Qld for $509 and throw in free delivery.

Get the SMEG if you are a Red Dwarf fan, otherwise Bosch is fine.

    • I can't help but hear Kryton struggle to say Smeghead when I see the name.

  • Bosch SMS88TI01A?

A lot of money for something that washes dishes at $1,395, but the reviews look great and it has an extra dry function that the wife craves… Too much money though?

    • I'm planning to buy a higher end one as well, currently got a Westinghouse, sometimes slack on washing.
      All the European or German made are around same price bracket $1000-$2000;
Every brand has a mid range, high end, even in Miele.
Before asking questions, go to HN and have a look at them, some of them has slightly different options, wash cycle and dish arrangements.
Too much money ? for some $300 dishwasher could be bit too expensive :) But as a Ozb, I'm waiting for next Miele promotion :)

  • 2nds world and appliances online (which is on ebay so you can get CR and use some discount codes) are 2 places that are cheaper than goodguys and the like

Get yourself a basic entry level Miele or Asko.

    Smeg is overpriced and unreliable.

  • I love our Miele. Ours is 14 years old, and still going strong. I also love its cutlery tray (instead of basket in the bottom). Yes, Miele is a little more expensive than others, but it's worth every cent.

  • I got a double door Fisher and Paykal model off Gumtree for $100. They use an optical sensor to judge when the doors are closed. The plastic around the sensor is rubbish and falls apart…but 10 mins with a piece of ice cream lid and super glue..perfect dish washer. Love the double door. 6 litres per wash, never unpack, clean at top, dirty on the bottom (rotate).

Don't get Smeg, worst products ever (though they are pretty) - had a kitchen full of it with countless horror stories. Obtaining parts and waiting for them (some just never came or where available).

    Bosch is better option.
