Recommendation on PSU for My Optiplex 9010 MT

Hey, as some of you may know, I purchased an Optiplex 9010 to turn into a cheap gaming pc. I need to upgrade the PSU.

Not sure what would be most suitable, but here's a few links of some I've found on eBay and PCcasegear.

Please let me know if any, or all would be suitable. I want something cheap obviously, but also safe!

Thanks

Here's a few links:

Gamemax 500w

Besta CoolExtra 550w

Another Besta CoolExtra

Corsair VS550

Antic Basic 500w

Thermaltake 500w

Any alternative suitable suggestions would be great. Thanks!

  • I've had some very bad experiences with thermaltake and antec, very tiny sample size of me. Corsair is quite good, i havent heard of the rest before. Seasonic is my favourite brand though.

    • Antic Basic 500w

Yes, with a name like that it's bound to play up. :)

Actually I have been lucky with Antec and Thermaltake. I think there are bound to be some duds now and then. My Thermaltake runs 24/7 as did my previous Antecs so no power cycle stress which may help.

  • I'm no expert on the Optiplex 9010 but check a standard sized PSU will fit without case hacking.

  • +1

You're better off spending the extra $10 and getting the Corsair CX450 (if it fits):

A higher quality refresh of their old CX line

  • I ended up going with this Corsair. It's 1cm too long. It might hit the latch on the case, but I'll try and mod it or something.
