Cheap Le Creuset Cookware. Capped Shipping!

70

This company have decently priced Le Creuset cookware, even when compared to Myer/DJs with 50% off.

The absolute deal maker, however, is that they cap shipping for orders under 20kg at 39GBP (if order over 200GBP).

While they don't have the cheapest absolute prices compared to some online stores, they are more than happy to ship to Aus and the capped shipping means heavy Le Creuset cookware is an absolute bargain.

Eg. Square Grill Pan 26cm 52GBP
Round Casserole Dish 28cm(French Oven) 116GBP
For comparison the round dish is the one that retails in Myer for around $550.

I made my first order of 9 items on 20.9 and the parcels arrived on 5.10 - only issue is that I was sent a 26cm frying pan instead of a 28cm one so will let you know how it goes. Their pre-sales service was pretty good though.

I used to buy Le Creuset cookware from an outlet in Swindon and have always liked them.

Recently, out of impulse I purchased a no-brand enamelled cast-iron set from Coles consisting of a casserole pot and a grill pan. Although aesthetically not as attractive as the Le Creuset, I found them to be just as serviceable, and at $40, they are a steal. Harris Scarfe offers similar alternatives to Le Creuset for $50-$80 a piece from time to time.

    • Hey earlybird, did you have any problems with rusting from these pans?

It's best to avoid putting cast-iron cookware in the dishwasher. If you really must do it, then I suggest that you remove them as soon as the wash cycle completes. That way they don't sit in humid environment which can cause rust to develop on the rim and any unsealed edges of any cast-iron pots and pans, including Le Creuset's.

        • Thanks, earlybird. Good advice.

          • @janeymac: Another thing I sometimes do after washing and drying them is to apply a thin coat of cooking oil on the enamelled surface and the rim, and heat the pot or pan on medium until the film of oil turns a golden colour (taking care not to brown it). I know it's a bit of a hassle but this not only helps to protect the cooking surface, but I also find that after the treatment, food tends not to stick to the surface by as much the next time you use it.

  • I've wanted Le Creuset cookware for a long time, however due to their weight (and my clumsiness) I don’t trust myself to use them on my ceramic cook-top.
I'd give myself a month max before I'd shatter the cook-top.

My mum has had one these pots for 35 years and its still got many many years left in it. Yeah, they are expensive. But if you want something that youll probably never have to replace, they are the best.

    • I 100% agree. My mother has a skillet that dates back to the late 60's and still looks like new. There's a simple way of looking at it, buy quality and you'll buy less often.

  • Their Fissler range seems very well priced too.
