Can someone help me to the right direction. Adsl 2+ from optus is crap atm. Finally found used modem (TP LINK 8817) which seems to keep dropping internet connection. What could be the cause and what is the best modem for situtation.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Comments

  • Have you tried asking Optus to change ADSL profiles to something like "stability"?

    • Would it have any effect on speed? Is the choice of modem the right one By the way?

      • speed vs stability…your call

  • Modulation:ADSL2 PLUS
    Annex Mode:ANNEX_A
    Downstream Upstream
    SNR Margin:10.5 15.7 db
    Line Attenuation:38.7 21.9 db
    Data Rate:7547 812 kbps
    Max Rate:7936 944 kbps
    POWER:0.0 12.5 dbm

change it down to adsl2 or adsl.

    • Would that be asking optus as KitchenSink above mentioned? Would the speed vary if profile is downgraded to adsl2 or adsl?

      • Would that be asking optus

no. this change is on your modem. look for adsl2, g.992.3, adsl, g.dmt or g.992.1.

        • I changed it to ADSL profile, but then there was no internet.
