That's cheap! Is that a Plasma TV? contrast ratio is quite impressive.
I thought those contrast ratio has no standards… so they are just putting out a huge number to attract customers? If I am wrong, please correct me XD
i guess at least the figures have an instant effect in making a buyer feels as if they've got a better deal ?? =)
yeah pretty much they all measure differently, but they also now implement dynamic "contrast ratios"
eg (my understanding) if something looks dark to the screen it makes it darker, if something looks light overdrives it to make it lighter. so end up with a far greater color range… basically cheating a bit to make the picture more defined.
As a word of warning: Don't get this TV if you are planning to hook up a computer to it. Even with HDMI, it looks really bad. Apparently it does not scale the image pixels 1:1 to the screen pixels. Or that's what I learned from some forum after a quick look into the issue. I hope other material and sources look better on it, but I am a bit skeptical.

Ive hooked up my 6yr old laptop with a hisense 42" lcd full hd tv, not the model listed here, but a similar one and I had no problem, looked fine to me
bought one same brand 42" LED for around $1000, so I would suggest go for the LED instead of this one

saw LG 50" — i assumed full HD ? said 2010 model, only for AUD 888 !!
yeah! so why buy this ? oh the LG i saw is also PLASMA.
LCD uses less power, newer technology, lot of peopole like them better.
plasmas are much cheaper.
the model you saw was probably 50pj350 HD plasma normally goes for $999 - but if you want big still a good buy
Can't beat JB hifi 15% off deal a few weeks back. i managed to grab a 42" LG with contrast ratio 3,000,000:1 plus a 5 yr extended warranty for $840.
But otherwise, this seems decent too.
