Masters Warranty - what happens to the returns?

I have the Kobalt 80v mower kit with 2 batteries and both of the batteries have died/ won't take a charge. I submitted a warranty claim on the Masters website and have been very surprised about how well they have handled the case so far.

Masters has booked a courier to collect the mower tomorrow, it will be assessed in a 4-5 day period and then they will refund me the purchase price within approx. 3 weeks. There is no replacement stock available so a refund is the only option.

The thing is I am very attached to the mower, it is not to blame for the problems, it's the batteries that have let me down. It pulls on my heart strings to think of that mower being thrown in a garbage bin just because the batteries won't work.

Does anyone know what happens to the returns? Also this must be costing Masters a fortune or are they claiming that same refund back from the overseas suppliers?

  • Masters lost a fortune so in comparison another couple hundred bucks is no drama for Woolworths

  • I think the returns goes straight in the bin unless it's a high value item. This is the same with Woolworths supermarkets. For the first few weeks it was heartbreaking to see the amount of food we throw out because of returns.

  • It comes down to if you want your money back, or if you want the mower. You could get the batteries relaxed, but at your cost. Alternatively you can get some money back and go and buy a new one.

In general I prefer to fix stuff, but if it means the difference between a refund and a cost that changes the rules.

I am very attached to the mower

You love it mow today than yesterday, but not as mulch as tomorrow.
