The current TV we have for the bedroom is on it way out, the picture is ok (but not great) but the speakers are shot
Its and old Soniq 28" so it doesnt look like there is a way to out the audio to a soundbar or anything
Looking at updating to something cheapish, we only use it for teh chromecast, so dont need fancy interfaces or anything. Would prefer about 32"
What are some good options for something cheap that still performs well?

Buy a dvb tuner for laptop on eBay for $12 & watch TV in bed
We dont actually watch "tv" just stuff from the chromecast

$199 with local warranty, and if you buy it on an eligible credit card, it'll extend the warranty. Why not just get something ultra cheap like this? No company invests in cheap but excellent 32 in or below TV's as there's no margin/ large desire for them anymore.
I've had a 40 inch Viano with a chromecast plugged in for the last 3 years in my bedroom. Cost me $300 and in my opinion outperforms our much more expensive Hisense Smart TV that I loathe.

Can you replace the chromecast with a cheap Android TV box (which should do casting as well) and use the AV out to connect to speakers/soundbar?
That way you get the additional AndroidTV goodies (eg kodi, iPTV, etc.) as well as sorting the sound.
buy swap sell, gumtree decent brand over a new cheapy gets my vote.
