One of the best soap bars I have ever used, is at an amazing price in Coles this week. They are sold at this special price only once in a few months. Some highlights:

If you use liquid body wash, try this once and you might not go back to body wash again! Worth trying once for sure, anyway.

  Which 'other' week, JV? I mentioned they are sold at this price not-so-frequently (once in 3-4 months). That covers Coles and Woolies. Unlike Lindt chocolates, you won't find these at this price every month.

      @jv: Also confirm when were they at this price in Woolies before you purchased them last time? I am sure they are only once every 12-14 weeks or so if not more.

  I just tried this, I cut the bar in half and used my hands to form it roundish then put in a spare mug. Had to dip the brush under the water 4-5 times to get a good strong foam but by golly it works.
  
  New derby blades I tried with this worked VERY well. Had thich long facial hair and it shaved from mid ear to Chin in one pass, very happy.
  
  That said I had to change sides 2/3 the way through the shave as one side was to dull to do the big pass taking all the hair. My thickest facial hair yet and prob my easiest shave.

  Thanks. Good to know you buy consumer goods of global brands based on where they were made. If I did that, I would be left with no options as Australia doesn't manufacture most of the things I use in a day, unfortunately. Our stores are full of foreign-made goods even if, at all, they were of Aussie brands which they are often not. Good luck!

Ingredients:
Sorbitol, Aqua, Sodium Palmate/Stearate, Sodium Palmkernelate, Sodium Rosinate, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, PEG-4, Alcohol, Glycerin, Perfume, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Meta Bisulfite, Etidronic Acid, Tetra Sodium EDTA, BHT, CI 12490, CI 47005, Benzyl Benzoate, Benzyl Salicylate, Cinnamal, Eugenol, Limonene, Linalool.

In October 2009, the formula for the transparent amber soap was altered from the original to become 'Gentle Care' and wrapped in an inner cellophane covering. The new soap was slightly softer in texture and lasted half as long, but its most noticeable difference was its scent. The aroma of the classic transparent amber bar, which used to be characterized by a mild, spicy herbal fragrance, had been altered to a stronger aromatic scent. The "Hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic" claim was dropped, and the 3-month aging process described on the original box does not appear on the box of the 'Gentle Care' formula.

An analysis of the current ingredients list reveals items such as limonene, whose variant called L-limonene is characterised by a "turpentine-like odour" also typical of frankincense. It is an insecticide as well. However, this item was present in the pre-2009 formula, so the perceived change might be explained by different ingredients and by different proportions of ingredients.

The latest 2009 modification mainly breaks down to an addition of artificial colouring and substances whose hypothetical function is either as detergents (i.e., cleaning substances) or stabilisers (i.e., product longevity enhancers). However, even the pre-2009 formula was a far cry from the original one. The latter was completely free of industrial cleaners, free of synthetic colours and (apparently) free of synthetic odorants, whose place was occupied by natural herbal fragrances. However, one unknown in the original formula is the "Pears fragrance essence": because of it, the customer cannot be certain whether the "new" fragrant compounds are indeed all new—or simply formerly unlisted items.

  Looks like someone is trying to win the largest hyperlink award. There are a huge variety of soaps out there, not just at supermarkets, that are worthy of attention. For example, soaps made locally by semi-professionals can look and smell fantastic.

  For a "glycerine soap", glycerin is pretty far down the ingredients list. It has more alcohol than glycerin!

    This one is a regular bathing soap, doesn't fall under dedicated 'gentle wash' categoty if you are particularly looking for that.

    I make my own soap and surprisingly more alcohol > glycerin is actually needed to make the soap go transparent.
    I'm not kidding. Google some transparent soap recipes online to see.

Would like to know what makes this the best soap you've ever used? I hate dove cos it doesn't lather. Currently using the mango and pomegranate Aldi soap cos it smells good.. and is only $2.25 for 8 lol.

  It works as a good moisturiser due to its glycerine content and doesn't dry skin in winters like many other soaps. There aren't many such soaps in market here. It lathers well and has had a unique fragrance for years, non-fruity. Also, it looks good as it is transparent, if that counts.
