Good Public Primary School Vs Catholic Primary School in Banyule (VIC) Area

Hi Oz bargainers, we will send DD to prep next year and got accepted on both catholic and public primary school, ranking is both good (public one is slightly higher than catholic), want to hear about what you all thinks about catholic vs public school, my DD 3-yo-kinder teachers mention its all depends where you want to send her to high school, catholic high school 90% only accepting from catholic primary school (is it true?) since we can't afford private high school and no good public high school in our zone

public school but it doesn't even matter….

  • Is this in Montmorency? Have a similar dilemma…..

    • is in rosanna

  • Catholic schools are about as relevant as the Catholic church

    • They are still powerful and for that I'd stay clear.

    my DD 3-yo-kinder teachers

I honestly cannot work out what DD stands for other than Double Ds

Don't send them to a religious school! It (profanity) up a friend of mine. Just don't.

I don't usually read parent chat forums but I think it means either Dear Daughter, Dearest Daughter or Darling Daughter.

In the public vs private debate it very much depends on the individual schools you are comparing.

If you are more concerned about high school entry, maybe approach the high school you prefer and ask about getting your child enrolled (many people enrol their kids at birth so it's never too early). See if there are any requirements or preferences to get your child into the school; if they say they mostly take children from Catholic primary schools then there's your answer.

I went to Catholic school till I was 8 then public till grade 7 then Christian till grade 12. None of them screwed me up.

public one is slightly higher than catholic

Why pay for something when you can get a better one for free?

The answer to your last question about catholic high schools accepting from catholic primary schools is true. Is the school st martins? I have one there now and one starting next year. We are happy with the school

    • yes we're toss between st martins and rosanna golf links, thanks for the input (we're not going to local kinder so no one go to both of this school, means we're clueless and between school tours we're keen to st martins)

Go for St Martins. I went to Golf Links a few years back and got bullied by not only the students but the teachers as well. Absolutely hated it. Security seems questionable as well since they managed to find a dead body there. Oh and if sport is important, St Martins thrashed us in pretty much everything.

thanks for the input, we're decided going to st martins on beginning but just received letter we got accepted on rosanna golf links (we're not in the zone) so got confuse again, well and hopefully olmc heidelberg for high school (and they do prioritize enrollment for catholic primary school) so maybe we're going to st martins in the end

          @missyy:

You will find it hard to get into olmc from golf like or any other non catholic primary school
