Looking for baby furniture and other baby products

Hello People,

I am looking for any suggestions where I can buy cheap and best baby furniture (like Cot, Change Table) and other necessities for a new born.

Any pointers to a good warehouse sale or shop would be pretty helpful.

Thanks in advance,
Kiran

Absolutely Gumtree - best place in the world for good quality furniture. Just buy mattresses and changemats new from Baby Bunting / Toysrus but get the cot and change table from Gumtree. Might be worthwhile for you to share what city you're in too.

      • Thanks guys, I live in Melbourne.

        • If you live near Highpoint, there is a store there called Babyco which is closing down in a month. They have a lot of items on clearance, discounted floorstock for prams, cots, changetables, etc. Could be worth your while. IKEA also has some good quality stuff.

        • @Halo375: Wonderful. Will go there tomorrow. Thanks a lot Halo!

I totally agree but try convincing a new mother to buy anything second hand. That is the real challenge.

        • That sure is. But I will try :)

  • cot & changetable we got both from ikea, as they can be reused for a few years.

the change table becomes a normal shelf down the track.
the cot level can be lowered once they can stand and then front can also be removed completely once they stop rolling off the bed.

not many colour/design options though but then thats Ikea :)

    • Thank you. Any idea about the pricing which you got for?

      • just as per ikea website, nothing special

Highchair from IKEA is the best one around and price is great.

For any baby stuff second hand look into local Facebook buy/swap/sell groups. There are usually ones specifically for kids/baby items.

    • agree!! do not spend a dollar more than ikea chair - they are the best and very practical. easy to clean the mess (a lot of it actually….over and over again!)

    • thanks! I already have a high chair which has been gifted by one of our friends. I am mostly looking for Cot and Change Table. Facebook is definitely a good place to look, I will check that. Thank you.

      • Make sure you get the mattress designed for the cot you are purchasing, you don't want any gaps between frame and mattress.

If you're buying second hand buy near new model as it will meet current safety standards.

Enjoy being a new parent, it's a rollercoaster!

  • just curious…isn't it a bit dirty to get used items for baby?

do you have to disinfect the items?
