Hi I've currently got a FX 6300, and Gigabyte GA78lMT motherboard, and looking to upgrade to something better for gaming. I'm looking for the most bang for buck. Value yet good performance on games that require good performance for core. I heard Intel was good for that.
Also wondering, if it would be possible to match the parts in my current PC with a 7 year old Intel Core 2 Duo PC. Is it possible to match new parts with old power supplies and such? Also is DDR2 memory compatible?

Works out to $280 total. The CPU can be overclocked to perform much better.
How does this compare with i5?
Also would it be much worse if I just went for a 60 dollar motherboard, with little overclocking. Does the CPU struggle without overclock?
$60 motherboard won't allow for overclocking
This CPU is equivalent older unlocked i5s or some locked i5s this generation.
You will probably get away with case, power supply, HDD and DVD. You will need new ram. You might be ok with your graphics card.
