Looking for a Casual Bicycle for My Mum

Just got a new job so the signing bonus can be used to repay my mum with a nice bike.

My mum is looking for a casual weekend cruiser bike, she just doesn't know it yet.

My old mountain bike is rusty and is just not the right size for her.

A bit of context, there's a lovely biking path near her place in Parramatta following the river, so it's not really for the road.

My key requirements are:

  • Basket for groceries / puppy (future proof)
  • Gears for the little hill outside our place
  • Reliable because my mum doesn't really know much about bikes

Any good deals right now? I can look at the $500 range give or take.

The Reid Ladies Vintage bike range is pretty good value. You'll notice the Vintage Roadster is currently on sale.

    • Thanks, it looks like a decent range, I guess I'll have to do some more research on the differences between each one.

Happy to recommend Reid. The wife has one and it's been great.

Go to 99 bikes at Auburn, they have a really good range of bikes. Have a look at the website, but don't be intimidated by the high prices, as they do have a very wide range. I'm pretty sure if you join club 99 for $5 they also give you a discount.

Just a note on the basket thing - i got a basket for my bike thinking it would be handy to carry things, but it actually just really throws off the steering and makes the bike a little hard to handle, so i ended up just carrying things in a backpack in the end
