Need help picking a TV

Hi guys,

I'm looking at buying a new TV:
* 60inch or bigger
* Will be used for Sport, Xbox and Netflix/Movies
* Want to keep it under $2300

I've gone into store and spoken to some and have been recommended the following:
* Hisense 65N7
* Samsung UA65MU6100
* LG 65UJ654T

What are your thoughts/experiences and any suggestions. Any deals on at the moment? I'm not in a rush so can wait.

Thanks in advance,

    Samsung or LG.. skip Hisense.

    The minimum Samsung model i would get is the 6400, there seems to be a big jump between 6100 and 6400 in terms of quality.

    its $2387 here, so abit over your budget.

    I have multiple Samsungs and a Hisense. Samsungs are great but expensive. The Hisense panel seems really good but the design/menus are not as polished as the Samsung. I don't like the LG brand at all.

    I bought a Hisense TV and bought my mum one, I liked it a lot though I personally probably wouldn't know much of the difference in quality or specs.

    Biggest dislike with the Hisense TV is that mine only has 2 HDMI which is like nothing nowadays (so make sure yours have a few). Also the two I've seen all have the same remote which is fairly meh, not as good as our Samsung remote years earlier. The Youtube button is pretty big on it, I find I accidentally press it if I lose the remote on the couch.

    I think they use Opera TV, I've been able to cast youtube vids to it from my phone and haven't used opera tv for much else.

    I would extend your budget by another $200 and get one of these. I have and like my Sony tv.

    Go to the store. Set all display mode to standard and see it with your own eyes. That's what I did and went for the LG a couple of years ago.
    In term of functionality, I like switching channels and found Hisense remote was laggy. For games, you will need to look into the higher frequency model. Some people can see the difference between 50Hz and 100Hz, especially on bigger screen and high resolution.
    Samsung has better Netflix app, but it may have issues with HD and UHD encoding, so you will need a separate box like a Kodi box or the XBOX anyway, so don't let the "SMART" function fools you.
    I did all of this consideration and decided on LG TV twice, but you have to judge it for yourself.

    • WOW. So confusing. Information overflow

    This - "Don't let the "SMART" function fools you."

    Why doesn't anybody make a decent hi-spec TV (4K, HDR, oled/ULED/qled/etc) without making us waste money on crap smart functions we'll never use, coz we've already got 3-4 other devices plugged in which do it so so so much better…

      I imagine that part of the answer lies in companies trying to compete with one another to have the best technology.

      If one company can't say that their best TV has all the bells and whistles (regardless of how potentially irrelevant those are) they might believe that they'll be seen as a weaker or poorer choice in comparison.

      It's also easier to market a product that has lots of jargon and nonsense that sounds exciting and wonderful, as oppose to a product that is of better quality but not as exciting.

      I personally entirely agree with you. It would be much preferable to have a product, any product within various categories really, which is just of much higher quality in terms of it's core premise.

    I'd probably look at the Panasonic 65EX600, Pana's always seem to have good remotes and menu systems.They are going for around the $2200 mark. 4K/HDR etc etc. The hisense 65N7 series are pretty good also, but as someone commented earlier, their remotes and menu systems are something left to be a bit desired (I'd still go a hisense over a samsung though).

  • All good. Whichever gives you the best warranty at the cheapest price.
    Worthwhile considering that Hisense TVs are the only one to give 3 years warranty!
    From Hisense warranty statement:
    for the Television (other than accessories): a period of 36 months from the date on which you purchased the Television as shown in your proof of purchase (Date of Purchase)
