I've been holding onto my Note 4 waiting for the best deal on the Note 8, thinking that I had missed out on this deal. Carva848 was nice enough to let me know it was on, so I just had to check what the others were offering now that the new IPhones were announced before I bit the bullet.
Virgin currently have a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (RRP 1499) + Galaxy Gear S3 Frontier (RRP 599) for preorder, for $114 a month that gets you 16GB/mo (unused data rolls over once), a one off gift of 15GB data, unlimited national calls and text, unlimited international calls to 7 countries, and $300 to call and text all other countries. Data-free music streaming too if using Spotify or Google Music.
I chatted online and got a $100 credit for the first month since the 10% off velocity no longer works, I just mentioned the Optus offer. Also, cashrewards! So the way I see it if you're after only a Note 8:
114 x 24 = 2736 -100 credit, -50 cashrewards = 2586. Cheapest S3 from OzB is $360 for local stock, so you should be able to flog it for $350 easy. 2586 - 350 = 2236 less a $40 byo plan for 24 months is 2236 - 960, so.. 1276. Hmm. Not as good as I thought. Maybe this deal then is for people who want the S3 as well, since it's $1,626 (2586 less 960 for a comparable byo plan) from an RRP of $2,098.
Plus you get the wireless charger and screen assure. Anyway I hope this helps someone!
